Show about society's ills seen through the eyes of teens. Concepts included domestic violence, teen pregnancy, sexual assault, and homelessness.
Poetry Out Loud, January 2012
Two students, Brandon Rivera and Naomi, represented Flushing High School in the citywide Poetry Out Loud competition.
The Decision, June 2012
A multi-media showcase conceived, written, and produced by students in the Theater of the Oppressed class in cooperation with World Savvy. Show dealt with issues of sustainability.
Hudson River Pageant, April 2012
Students participated in the annual parade celebrating the flora and fauna of the Hudson River.
Field Trip February 2012:
Playwriting class went to 59/59 theater to attend a production of Motherhood Out Loud.

Workshop March 2012:
Students in Introduction to Theater spent eight sessions with teaching artists from New York Public Radio creating radio dramas on Shakespeare's Macbeth.

Theater club went to see MCC's production of Carrie: The Musical.

Original Production May 2012:
Playwriting class wrote an original musical, High School As We Know It. Students worked on original music, ran auditions and rehearsals, and performed the piece in May.

Students participated in a series of four workshops with teaching artist Athena Colon in preparation for Lincoln Center's War Horse.
