Flushing High School Theater
The drama department at Flushing High School seeks to connect students with real-world issues through dramatic performance. Courses offered vary year to year, but include introduction to theater, technical theater, playwriting/screenwriting, Acting I, Acting II, Theater of the Oppressed, and touring theater company.
In addition to courses, FHS is home to a vibrant theater club. Students have the opportunity to become members of the International Thespian Society, which allows them to earn ranks and honors for graduation and college. Students attend a minimum of two day-long conferences each year in order to interact with and learn from theater professionals. Theater club hosts several trips to see live theater, plays chosen by members of the club. The club also organizes the school's annual talent show and 24-hour play festival.
